Sometimes using three colours across the nails to fade from dark to light will lengthen and create an elegant look.  Now using this same technique you can place these blends to create shapes and suggest patterns over the nails.  With this step by step we will show you how to get a simple plaited look across the free edge, giving your clients something special.  You can use this method in different colour combinations to match their outfits or suit a season.

 Don’t get stuck with your colour acrylics, add some extra bling and utilize foils within your design to give it a whole new dimension and depth.  I have used a three colour fade with some beautiful coloured acrylic from NFU.oh over gold foil available at www.creativeten.co.uk.  Because we have followed the natural contour of the nail shape we have made it look longer and slimmer.  Wrap your designs around the nails to enhance the shape.

 Christmas Confetti Nails Acrylic holly embellishment

This is a simple and effective design perfect for salon application. It won’t take long and can look great at any time of the year. I have used the Confetti Collection from Ez Flow Nail systems. It is a nice glitter collection which looks fab over the top of opaque colours or as a      transparent effect. You will see on page 2 that I have added a little festive embellishment, this is obviously up to you and your clients, and perhaps not suitable in the summer seasons...you can pop a pretty little flower on instead of the Holly. I m using the Arabella forms to pre make the embellishments, but if you don’t have them you can place directly onto the surface of the nail or encapsulate it.

 Black Lace

I was asked to create some nails ideal for  Halloween, and I really tried to come up with something that wasn’t cliché, I just didn’t want to pop on some pumpkins on a black background or paint some witches over the free edge, because although they look  clever, I just feel in my bones that it is not something a client is going to choose to wear. So in keeping with the Halloween themes I have done this little step by step on the stiletto’s but I think these techniques will work beautifully within the salon and your clients will love to wear them on their preferred shape and in different colour combinations.  I have done this as a  French; using white tulle and paint over the free edge.  Purple is another  beautiful alternative with gold highlights for Christmas, or keep in with this seasons trends and work with a combination of beige and earthy browns. This step by step utilizes acrylic application and hand painting which is making its big come back, but if prefer Gel, use that.

Remembrance Poppies

This is a design I wanted to create for Remembrance Sunday. This design uses acrylic and a different way to apply flowers. These flowers use a reverse application,  high lighting and shadowing the petals whilst utilizing the base colour of the nail. This will help keep the flowers thin and make the nail less bulky. Once mastered this application techniques looks great with different types of flowers, with wide semi opaque petals.

Encapsulating real snake skin and using pigments to enhance the pattern, this design is an unusual design nail, which can't help but wow. Also utilizing the Arabella fantasy form to emboss your design with additional snake skin effect, pressed into the acrylic, and wound around the tip.

Using silver foil to enhance your design, add texture and depthis a great way of setting your self apart from the competition.
With this trio of silver nails I wish to bring you three different styles using this great media. Foil is wonderful for adding a new dimension to your nails.
These designs enhance the stiletto shape, adding colour and definition to bring out the best of this shape.Shattered is a very simple and effective nail, enhanced by using silver leaf over the nail bed area, this is optional, this design looks just as good without.
The Black ice design incorporates texture and adds a new dimensions with the holes in the free edge. Giving a delicate look to the design. It is difficult to see on the image but you will find the added foil gives depth and dimension to this look.
Silver stiletto is my favourite nail, using colour to enhance the shape this nail looks long and slender. I have used black on the edges of this nail, but this look would be great using purple adding the extra element of foil brings this look to life.
